Miracle At Midnight
ABC's The Wonderful World of Disney
Miracle at Midnight, part of ABCs The Wonderful World of
Disney, first aired Sunday, May 17. It is based on the dramatic and
moving story of the participation of the Danish people in a daring rescue
of Jewish citizens from the jaws of Nazi concentration camps. Preben
Munch-Nielsen, then a teenager, took part in that historic rescue: We
didnt recognize Jews as Jews, but as Danes
. The Jews
were victims of an insane movement created by lunatics. If you wanted to
retain your self-respect, you did what you could. This exciting
video tells the inspiring story of an entire nation pulling togetherdoing
what we could-- to protect a precious part of its community.
When ABC Classroom decided to offer learning materials to teachers to
support the use of Miracle at Midnight in their classrooms, they invited

specific social studies and history curricula. Working in conjunction with
ABC Community Affairs and the production staff and teacher/consultants of
The Foundation For The Future of Youth, TTI created information databases

integrate this intriguing video across curricula and into regular
classroom activities.
